Nothing Real Can Be Threatened: "Lemonade" screening and panel

  • Whitsell Auditorium 934 Southwest Salmon Street Portland, OR, 97205 United States (map)

"Pop superstar Beyoncé released her sixth studio album, Lemonade, as an hour-long HBO special on April 23 to much anticipation. Sensational and sensuous, the film combines words by Somali-British poet Warsan Shire with directorial work from Jonas Åkerlund, Kahlil Joseph, Melina Matsoukas, Dikayl Rimmasch,Mark Romanek, Todd Tourso, and Beyoncé herself. Drawing comparisons to the work of David Lynch and Terence Malick, the film is a vision, a provocation, a love letter, an examination of and meditation on femininity, relationships, race, and more, that the media and fans alike have been unpacking since its release.

PCPH invites local artists, writers, curators, and pop culture experts to contribute to a panel that discusses various aspects of this film and album, following a screening.

Screening begins at 6pm sharp, with panel to follow."
